| What
is WEEE? |
WEEE is one of the fastest
growing waste streams in the UK. It stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
It includes household appliances such as ovens, microwaves, fridges, freezers, washing machines,
tumble dryers, as well as IT & telecommunications equipment.
In the past, most electrical items went to landfill sites, but under the new WEEE legislation,
many of them now have to be re-used/recycled.
Householders are not banned from disposing of WEEE in their bin but the WEEE regulations have created
a network of collection points for WEEE. Householders should now find it easier to recycle their
old equipment through a mixture of improved local authority civic amenity (CA) sites and new take-back
facilities provided by retailers. These arrangements are operating now.
Dorset Reclaim depot is registered with the Environment Agency as a Designated Collection
Facility (DCF) and is able to offer a free collection service for unwanted working electrical.
If it is working, don't bin it, donate it.

| How
to donate Items to us |
Do you have any unwanted
items from furniture and electrical items, to carpets and curtains, crockery and cutlery, that
are in good condition?
If so, we may be able to help you and help our clients as well by making their house into a home.
You can either bring us the Item or alternatively we offer a free collection service on particular
days of the week, depending on the area in which you live. We are always very busy, so to ensure
we can collect your donation at a time to suit you, please give us as much notice as you can.

|
| How
to Gift Aid your Donation |
Dorset Reclaim is now registered
for Gift Aid which means that for every £1 we charge, we can claim 25p from HMRC (Inland Revenue)
at no cost to you. As your furniture or appliance will be passed on to our clients at a low price,
Gift Aid help cover our running costs, hence your donation goes that little bit further.
We dont need your National Insurance Number or any tax reference, just your signature.
The only requirement for you to be able to sign a Gift Aid Certificate is that you are currently
paying Tax in the UK, either on your salary or on your savings.
As a registered charity, it would help us greatly if you could complete a Gift Aid Certificate.

| Special
Note on Items we take |
We have to comply with Trading
Standards regulations, and for example, we may not be able to take sofas and chairs that were made
before 1988, or which dont have the Fire Safety label displayed. Other items such as bunk beds
or cots are also subject to regulations, so we may have to ask you questions about the items you
are offering.
In some rare instances, the donations do not always suit the requirements of the people that we
help. In these circumstances, we will dispose of the donations in an appropriate manner. If this
occurs, any proceeds generated by the disposal will be used towards the running expenses of Dorset
Reclaim.
Occasionally, we may not be able to collect certain items offered to us. This is usually because
we may have run out of storage space in our depots, or simply because we have too many items of
a particular type. Please accept our apologies if we are unable to help or have to refuse any item
offered at certain times.
If in doubt, it is always best to contact us and ask whether we can help.
